The University of the Punjab, also referred to as Punjab University (PU), is a public research university located in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. It holds the distinction of being the oldest and largest public-sector university in Pakistan.
History
- Established in 1882, PU has a long and illustrious history.
- It was formally established by the British Government after convening the first meeting for establishing higher education institutions in October 1882 at Simla.
